- Axel Rudakubana has appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court via video link from Broadmoor psychiatric hospital facing four charges relating to alleged violent incidents during his time at Belmarsh prison.
- The court heard that Rudakubana allegedly threw boiling water mixed with sugar at a prison officer through a cell door hatch, with “prompt medical attention preventing lasting injury”.
- Prosecutor Catherine Pattison detailed further alleged incidents, including Rudakubana throwing liquid at a female officer, punching a male officer, and hiding sharpened stone shards prised from his cell floor.
- Rudakubana was not asked to enter any pleas during the court appearance and has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on 19 October.
- The 20-year-old was previously jailed for a minimum of 52 years in January 2025 for the Southport dance class attack, which resulted in the murders of three young girls and the attempted murder of ten others.
