For more than a decade, Democrats held this stretch of the Gulf Coast without much of a fight. Heading into November, it has turned into one of the tightest House contests in the country, and the handful of surveys tracking it point in two directions at once.
Republican Eric Flores and nine-year Democratic incumbent Vicente Gonzalez are set to face voters on November 3 for control of Texas' 34th Congressional District, a Rio Grande Valley seat that now stretches north along the coast toward Corpus Christi.
