South Lanarkshire Council teams cleared over 180 bags of litter from Stonehouse Bypass at the weekend.
The litter pick which was carried out by the team on Saturday (March 19) saw 186 bags of litter being collected.
Stonehouse Bypass is the road leading from Stonehouse to Larkhall.
Councillor John Anderson is chairman of the community and enterprise resources committee.
He told Lanarkshire Live : “I would like to congratulate the civic-minded folk who collected a staggering 186 bags of rubbish at Stonehouse Bypass.
"Their dedication to the local area stands in stark contrast to the selfish people who create the mess in the first place by dumping their litter without a care for others.”
The measure forms part of wider council aims to clean up the area, and people are being urged to bin their litter as it is an offence to dump it and can carry a fine up to £2500.
On March 26, the road from Strathaven church to Drumclog was a focus of attention for the teams to clear up.
As well as these litter picks, clear up of roads around Clydesdale is under way. This began on March 14 and is due to be completed by today (March 28).
