South Korean fans boo World Cup squad arriving home after early exit

Crowds booed South Korea’s World Cup team as they returned to Seoul on Tuesday (30 June) following their early exit from the tournament.

Hong Myung-bo’s squad was knocked out in the group stage after losing to both the host nation, Mexico, and South Africa, despite a promising 2-1 win against Czechia.

After landing at Incheon Airport, the team and coach were met with a hostile reception.

Fans shouted "Hong Myung-bo, get out!" and “take responsibility”, while one held up a banner that read: “Korean Football Is Dead,” Yonhap News reported.
