South Ayrshire is officially one of Scotland’s first Age-Friendly Communities.
The area now joins the UK Network of Age-Friendly Communities – a growing movement led by the World Health Organisation - with South Ayrshire only the second in Scotland after South Lanarkshire to sign up.
Around 60 places in the UK have already committed to making their community a better place to age in, enabling people to stay living in their homes, take part in activities they value and contribute to their communities for as long as possible.
