Director Jeff Fowler teased that the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie will hint at more characters coming to the film's universe for a potential sequel to the trilogy.

The news comes as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 film features a star-studded voice cast, including Ben Schwarz for Sonic, Colleen O'Shaughnessey for Miles "Tails" Power, and Idris Elba for Knuckles.
The most recent trailer for the movie also showcased Keanu Reeves as the primary antagonist Shadow, according to Coming Soon.
Another noteworthy star is Jim Carrey returning to play Dr. Ivo Robotnik as well as James Marsden as Tom Wachowski. Many other Hollywood stars also worked on the movie to bring it to life.

Amy in particular has had a long history within the Sonic video game franchise. One thing that makes this character stand out is her one-sided love for the Blue Hedgehog. She is also equipped with a massive hammer that she uses for a variety of things.
Despite Fowler's words, there is also no official confirmation about Sonic the Hedgehog 4 being worked on at Paramount. This comes as people expect the third film will rake in some serious profits due to the franchise's popularity, according to Nintendo Life.
