Son of notorious killer threatens to 'cut up' Dublin barman

The son of a notorious killer has been arrested after he threatened a bar worker, saying: “I’ll stab you.”

The shocking incident occurred at an outdoor seating area in front of a string of shops and pubs on Merrion Road, in Ballsbridge, South Dublin. The teenager and an accomplice had been harassing customers of the pubs for a number of evenings in a row.

They pestered people for cigarettes, robbed off tables and asked people to buy them drink in a nearby off-licence. Staff from the shops and pubs had repeatedly told the young men to move on and one evening the killer’s son turned “really nasty”.

A barman who challenged the youth, who cannot be identified as he is a minor, told the Irish Mirror: “I had to go out to them, they were annoying customers for days. I went up and told him in language he’d understand, I told him to f*** right off and stop pestering people.

“He didn’t take that well and got really nasty. He threw off his coat and wanted to fight me, he started threatening me.

“He said, ‘Come on, fight me or I’ll stab you, I’ll cut you up’. I walked back inside.

“It’s sad to say but I think he’ll either murder someone or be murdered before he’s 18.”

On another evening, the killer’s son tried to headbutt a man in his 60s, who was a famous rugby player in his day. He then picked a fight with two young men at another table. Another barman called the gardai, with one officer later pinning the violent teenager to the wall before arresting him.

The second barman said: “I thought they were just a nuisance the first evening or two, but I saw things take a turn that night. The guards were right to arrest him.”

A Garda spokeswoman confirmed the arrest of the young man.

She said: “Gardai attended the scene of a public order incident at approximately 9pm on the 18th July 2022 at Merrion Road, Dublin.

“A male teen was arrested for a public order incident and has since been released pending referral to the youth diversion programme.

“Investigations are ongoing.”

The Irish Mirror understands that the young man lives in sheltered accommodation and travelled to Ballsbridge on the Dart.

His parent is a vicious killer after carrying out a gruesome murder.
