A son who's banned from contacting his dad has narrowly avoided being sent back to prison just five days following his release after he showed up at his home address.
John Luke had only been a free man for three days when he attended his father's Bedlington house on three occasions within 12 hours. A court heard that, during the first two visits, the 38-year-old repeatedly asked for cigarettes and cash by shouting through a letterbox but was ignored by the victim.
However, when he showed up for a third time, the police were already inside and he was immediately arrested. Luke, currently of no fixed abode but formerly of Bedlington, has now been given an eight-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, after he appeared in custody at South East Northumberland Magistrates' Court to plead guilty to breaching a restraining order.
