Spurs return to Premier League football on Wednesday night, when they welcome Southampton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Antonio Conte's side are currently seventh in the league, just two points off fourth-placed Manchester United and with two games in hand.
After the winter break, the Lilywhites will go into the game against Ralph Hasenhuttl's side with a boost after progressing to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Tottenham beat Brighton 3-1 in the fourth round of the competition and will travel to play Middlesbrough as they try and get one step closer to ending their 14-year trophy drought.
Ahead of the midweek league fixture, football.london takes a look at four things we spotted in the training session ahead of the game.
Academy players greeted
Ahead of going out onto the training pitch at Hotspur Way, a number of the first team went and greeted the five academy players who had been chosen to join the training session.
The likes of Hugo Lloris, Lucas Moura and Eric Dier could all been seen going down the line and giving the youngsters a hand shake before going out on the training pitch.
The academy players taking part in training gives them a chance to try and impress Conte and having a welcome greeting from the first team can only be a boost.
Absences and returnees
Tottenham are still struggling with injury issues and although Dier was spotted at the start of the training video, he couldn't be seen during the group exercises.
Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga also didn't take part in the session and Conte provided an update on his sides injury issues, ahead of the game against Southampton.
"Eric Dier is not available. It’s the same for Skipp and Tanganga. The others are all available," the Spurs boss said in his pre match press conference.
"He [Skipp] had a [groin] problem but we tried to take care of him. I think we need to have a bit of patience with him. Skippy is another player I have seen great improvement in him.
"He [Dier] had a little muscular problem in his thigh. It’s not serious but the problem is in the same place as the last time, so for this reason the doctors told me to be patient and not to take risks with him," Conte added.
However, the Italian does have the boost of Son Heung-min and Cristian Romero now back to training and available once again for selection after their injuries.
Newbies getting stuck in
Both deadline day signings got game time against Brighton as they got their first taste of playing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Conte was also asked about the former Juventus duo when he spoke to the media on Tuesday.
"I think they’re working very well and I’m pleased for the way they’re understanding our idea of football," he admitted. "Both Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski are good players and they’re working very well.
"For sure, they need a bit of time to understand very well and to go into the team, to understand our tactical aspect offensively and defensively, but I’m very pleased with them because I know that I can count now about them."
Settling into the squad has already started and they were seen getting stuck right into the action in the regular passing exercise Spurs do in training, as they had high energy and skill.
Working hard in training is their first step to understanding everything about their new manager and the way he works, as well as bonding with their new teammates.
Smiles all round
Since Conte has started his job in N17, there has been an increase in morale amongst both players and fans and hard work in training is creating good results on the pitch.
During the training video and before the session started, Sergio Reguilon had a snood covering his face and Son then said: "To be honest, it's better like this," before going to hold his teammate's nose.
The session showed fitness and passing being worked on but also showed the players involved smiling and joking around, as they produced a high energy session, something the 52-year-old can only be impressed with.
Conte will hope the boost from Saturday's game will help his side on Wednesday and get them some much needed points on the table, in the battle for a top four spot.
