While the Jets saw two defensive tackles leave in free agency — Sheldon Rankins to Houston, Nathan Shepherd to New Orleans — they were able to keep one of their free-agent tackles as they have re-signed Solomon Thomas to a one-year deal, per Tom Pelissero. The deal is worth up to $3.9 million.

Thomas played in all 17 games last season for the Jets, posting 26 tackles and two tackles for a loss. He’ll help provide some snaps and depth at the position as a good reserve piece.
Thomas was also the Jets’ nominee last season for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his charity work off the field. Certainly a good re-sign by the Jets.
