Sofyan Amrabat to Tottenham latest: Deadline day u-turn, Tanguy Ndombele impact, £12.5m price

Tottenham Hotspur have now reached deadline day and are yet to welcome any new names to north London.

Antonio Conte will be keen to add to his current squad ahead of the January window closing at 11pm tonight (Monday), with director of football Fabio Paratici attempting to close a number of deals.

A double swoop for Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur looks close to completion and whether that is the extent of Spurs' deadline day business remains to be seen.

They have, however, been linked with another raid on Serie A, with Fiorentina midfielder Sofyane Amrabat having been a name rumoured to be under consideration by Tottenham.

With that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest developments regarding his future and the potential of him signing for Spurs in the closing hours of the window.

Spurs make major u-turn

Whilst a deal to take the midfielder to north London certainly looked in the offing, that now appears unlikely if the latest reports are to be believed.

According to Ryan Taylor of The Express, Spurs have turned away from negotiations, having prioritised a move for Juventus midfielder Bentancur.

He said: "Sofyane Amrabat was a player that was a subject of strong talks but Spurs have now sort of turned their back on that one."

£12.5m deal close

CalcioMercato, via HITC, have reported that Spurs are closing in on a £12.5m permanent deal for Amrabat.

Fiorentina signed him from Club Brugge for £17million – but it appears they are willing to take a loss on the Moroccan.

Spurs must sell

As per Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham are expected to submit an official loan offer to to Fiorentina with the option to buy for €16m (£13.3m).

He added that talks have been ongoing since Sunday (January 23) and Conte is a huge fan of the midfielder.

However, in order to sign him, Romano says that Spurs need to offload one of Ndombele or Dele Alli - or both.

Go ahead given

As reported by Gianluca di Marzio, Conte is determined to sign Amrabat.

The midfielder is 'one of the options' on Tottenham's list who could well replace the seemingly departing Ndombele.

Di Marzio's report adds that Spurs have been given the go ahead to agree a move with Fiorentina.

Navigating transfer difficulty

As Amrabat is still competing at the Africa Cup of Nations following Morocco's 2-1 win over Malawi on Wednesday (January 25), the club may find it difficult to navigate negotiations whilst he's away competing for his country.

However, Amrabat is represented by the same agency, ICM Stellar Sports, as Gareth Bale, Ben Davies and Joe Rodon and his representatives are believed to have been looking for potential new clubs for him this month.
