Sofyan Amrabat has already delivered Premier League verdict amid Tottenham's failed transfers

Sofyan Amrabat is a target for Tottenham in the final days of the January transfer window and he has already spoken about a move to the Premier League.

The Moroccan international is currently playing for his country at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, where they have reached the quarter-finals of the competition.

Spurs have already lost out on a number of players in the window so far, with Dusan Vlahovic, Adama Traore and Luis Diaz all seeming like they are making the move elsewhere.

In order to ensure Amrabat becomes a Lilywhites player, if that's what the north London club want, they will have to work quickly to stop other clubs swooping for him.

The midfielder isn't likely to be a first choice target for Spurs fans and the 25-year-old has made just 11 league appearances for Fiorentina so far this season.

However, before Vincenzo Italiano's appointment, Amrabat did have more of a presence in the regular team, making 31 league appearances last season and 34 in the previous one.

Earlier this month, the former Palermo sporting director, Rino Foschi, made a comment which would provide Tottenham with some confidence in the potential signing

"Whoever takes Amrabat makes a bargain: he will make up for it."

In 2020, Fiorentina midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli also praised the Moroccan, "I compliment him, he’s a great player."

Although the midfielder may not be fans' first choice, there is also a desire from supporters for those above to back Antonio Conte and if the 25-year-old is a signing he wants as reports suggest, then he obviously sees potential.

Another boost for Spurs is that Amrabat has also already provided a positive verdict on the Premier League.

"Of course, you are flattered when you get linked with a Premier League club," Amrabat admitted in 2017. "That’s a compliment and says I’m doing well.

"The Premier League is a competition where I could play. In terms of style of play, it would fit well with me.

"Sure Germany and Spain are also beautiful. If you want to reach the top, and I want to, you should be able to play anywhere and against anyone," he added.

A number of Tottenham players have already spoken about Conte's tough training sessions and the Italian has spoken about the dedication he likes to see from his team.

The midfielder's previous comments indicate that he is willing to adapt and more importantly, believes he can, which could be a positive for Conte.

Just last year, Amrabat also spoke about his feelings after both wins and losses.

"I like to play in full stadiums – I like it when the fans are whistling me. That’s what I want – that’s why you do it," he explained. "Sometimes people think footballers don’t care, or sometimes you maybe have footballers who don’t care.

"I feel responsibility for the club, the city of Florence, the Fiorentina fans. It’s a big responsibility. For me it’s not: ‘OK I played, we win or we lose. I go home, I don’t care.’ I take it home with me.

"If you’re a winner, you want to win. I want to win every week. And if we lose, I feel bad. For the fans in Florence, Fiorentina is everything to them. So I feel a sense of responsibility because of that."

Amrabat's comments suggest he would give 100 per cent on the pitch for his side and will thrive from support of fans and a big stadium to show his talents in.

The Moroccans move to N17 may also depend on outgoings for Spurs, with Giovani Lo Celso, Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele all being linked with moves away.

The midfielder may not currently be the complete player who can slot into the Tottenham XI and thrive immediately but there is clearly something that the club see in the 25-year-old and with his dedication and some coaching from Conte, who knows what he could bring to the Lilywhites.
