Sofia Coppola’s 16-year-old daughter has gone viral on social media after posting a TikTok about being grounded for trying to charter a helicopter using her father’s credit card.
In the beginning of the clip, Romy Mars, whose father is Phoenix lead singer Thomas Mars, is seen talking about nepotism while cooking in her parents’ kitchen.
The teen begins the video: “Make vodka sauce pasta with me because I’m grounded because I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad’s credit card because I wanted to have dinner with my camp friend.”
Mars, who is the granddaughter of The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola, then warned her followers that she didn’t know the difference between a garlic and an onion, before mistakenly chopping up a shallot instead.
While preparing her sauce, the teenager revealed that she decided to post her cooking video on TikTok “since I’m already grounded because my parents’ biggest rule is I’m not allowed to have any public social media accounts.”
“Here’s why,” she said plainly, while holding her father’s Grammy award. “They don’t want me to be a nepotism kid but TikTok is not gonna make me famous, so it doesn’t really matter.”

The teen then introduced her babysitter’s boyfriend, Ari, whom she referred to as her “replacement parents” before claiming “my parents are never home”.
While the video has since been deleted from her TikTok account, Twitter user @savbrads reposted it on Tuesday and it has been viewed more than 1 million times.
Savannah tweeted alongside the clip: “This TikTok of Sofia Coppola’s daughter… this means so much to me.”
And the Twitter user wasn’t alone as many applauded the teen’s candid social media post, despite her trying to charter a helicopter on her dad’s credit card.
One penned: “This is all we want from nepo babies, honestly. Other nepo babies please take notes”.
“Chartering a helicopter from NY to MD for dinner with your camp friend is a rad way to get grounded,” another penned.
A third added: “If more nepotism babies were chaotic and open like this I would forgive almost anything.”
Oscar-winner Coppola shares daughters Romy and Cosima Mars, 12, with husband Thomas Mars (real name Thomas Pablo Croquet).
The pair got married in August 2011 in Italy.
