Gardai and social welfare officers carrying out checks caught one driver trying to evade strict road safety rules.
The multi-agency searches were carried out by the Laois Roads Policing Unit, members of the Road Safety Authority and officials from the Department of Social Protection on Wednesday.
As part of the operation, an articulated lorry was grounded by gardai for fraud.

The lorry was found to have manipulation software installed on the tachograph, which would give an incorrect reading of hours driven.
The discovery was during one of the two multi-agency checkpoints carried out.
In a statement, gardai for the Laois/Offaly division said on Thursday: "Yesterday Laois Roads Policing Unit conducted two multi-agency checkpoints with members of the Road Safety Authority and officials from the Department of Social Protection.
"The RSA detected one heavy goods vehicle which had with manipulation software installed on the tachograph.
"This vehicle and the driver were grounded and a court prosecution has commenced.
"Separately a number of fixed charge notices were issued in respect of defective tyres and the offending vehicles were only permitted to proceed once the defective tyres had been replaced."
