The 'bonus' social welfare payments which were announced in Budget 2023 last month have started to be paid to the thousands who make claims for them.
Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe and Minister for Public Expenditure Michael McGrath allocated €23.4 billion for payments of social welfare in the financial plan for the next 12 months.
These included a number of 'bonus' payments before Christmas to help people with the cost of living crisis as prices for the likes of petrol, diesel, food and electricity continue to skyrocket.
The full cost of these 'bonuses' will be €1.2 billion and some have already been paid to recipients.
The next payment due is the double child benefit payment, which will land on the week beginning November 1, as DublinLive report.
However, four more will be paid on the same dates next month - with November 14 the beginning.
They are:
Fuel allowance- lump sum of €400
Living alone allowance- lump sum of €200
Working family payment- lump sum of €500
Disability support grant- lump sum of €500.
The following week, beginning November 21, carers will receive their €500 one-off payment, while students receiving a SUSI maintenance grant will get a double payment on December 16.
Speaking at the announcement of Budget 2023, Minister Donohoe said: "If you are an older person, you are having to spend more of your pension on heating your home; if you are looking after a family, you are facing higher grocery bills; if you are running a small business, you are trying to cope with increases in the cost of energy,
"This is why, Budget 2023, presented by Minister (Michael) McGrath and I today, is and must be a cost-of-living budget, focused on helping individuals, families and businesses to deal with rising prices." he added at the time.
