Those in receipt of social welfare can expect a handy cash boost in a few weeks.
The much-anticipated spring cost of the living package, worth a nice €200, will top off those receiving social welfare this April, meaning that as well as their normal social welfare payment they will also receive extra cash.
Generally, the cash boost is paid out to people who are in receipt of the Christmas bonus, as well as those on Working Family Payment.

According to the Department of Social Protection, those who are eligible for the payment will receive it on the week of April 24.
Speaking to RSVP Live, the department explained: "The April cost of living payment is due to issue in the week commencing April 24. This will be issued along with a customer’s main qualifying payment in this week."
Last month the department clarified to the publication that the payment will be handed out to: “people in receipt of long-term social welfare payments. This will be paid to the primary recipients of the payments that receive the Christmas Bonus.”
“In addition, it will be paid to people who receive the Working Family Payment and who have not received the lump sum on their primary payment. The Department is working for this payment to be made in late April."
They continued: “For people receiving Child Benefit, an additional lump sum payment of €100 for each child will be paid in June with the regular Child Benefit payment.
“An additional €100 payment will also be paid this year in respect of each child for whom the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance is paid. For a child aged from four to 11 years, the payment will be €260 and for children aged 12 to 22 years it will be €385.”
