Georgia Bulldogs fans enjoyed one of the most memorable games in Sanford Stadium history in Georgia’s 44-42 overtime win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Georgia overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat Georgia Tech. It only took Georgia eight overtimes to beat Georgia Tech, which made Georgia’s win the second longest game in college football history.
Georgia’s win was not pretty. The Yellow Jackets came to play and gave the Georgia defense fits all night. Georgia Tech quarterback Haynes King finished the day with 413 total yards and five total touchdowns.
Georgia never held a lead in regulation and went just two of seven on two-point attempts. The Bulldogs never gave up. UGA’s offense mounted several clutch drives in the fourth quarter to stay in the game. Carson Beck threw for 297 passing yards and five touchdowns.
How did Georgia football fans and media react to UGA’s stunning win over Georgia Tech?
“Georgia had six points through three quarters and won 44-42. I’ll never understand it,” said Benjamin Wolk.
“The best in Georgia play at Georgia!!,” said Georgia staffer James Ellis.
“It was fun when we were all Georgia Tech fans for a couple of hours,” said one fan on social media.
“The Georgia senior class will leave Athens without ever having lost to Florida, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Auburn,” said Radi Nabulsi via social media.
The moment Georgia won!
The wildest game we’ve ever seen!
Not every UGA fan stayed throughout the cold!
This one stings for Tech!
