Soccer Saturday's Jeff Stelling left gobsmacked by football ground proposal

Jeff Stelling was left in shock during this week's Soccer Saturday when footage played out of a proposal taking place in the stands of a football match.

In the same week it was confirmed that Jeff would be staying on the much loved Sky show, he reacted with disbelief when news reached him of a fan popping the question at Elland Road as Leeds United took on Southampton.

After Soccer Saturday returned from an ad break at the start of the second half action, Sky stalwart Jeff told viewers at home: "We will catch up on goals in a moment. Something far more important to tell you about that's happened at Elland Road at half time.

"Who says the age of romance is dead? This is what happened at Elland Road."

The camera then cut to footage from Leeds' famous ground, where a picture of a couple appeared on the big screen, along with the words 'Will You Marry Me?' As the camera then cut to the couple in question, Jeff remarked: "There they are! He's done it at a football ground and no doubt the entire crowd were chanting: 'You don't now what you're doing," because that's what they do if you ask someone to get married at a football ground!"

Wrapping things up, Jeff added: "Look it was a romantic moment and he is on his knees. And the guy in front was completely disinterested wasn't he?"

Earlier this week, Sky Sports were delighted to announce that Jeff had decided to stick around, with the popular presenter loyal Hartlepool United supporter saying: "As the end of the season approached, and I was preparing to say goodbye, I realised that I was not ready to blow the final whistle and leave the best job in the world."
