Soccer AM will soon be a thing of the past following Sky Sports' decision to get rid of the iconic football programme.
First launched in 1995, the Sky Sports show proved popular with fans due to its light-hearted nature but gradually lost its appeal after the departures of hosts Helen Chamberlain and Tim Lovejoy.
It is understood falling ratings and the need to adapt to changing consumer needs have played a key role in the call to axe Soccer AM, which joins the likes of The Sunday Supplement, Goals on Sunday and The Debate in being taken off air.

Those affected by the cancellation of the show will have the opportunity to discuss the proposals before any final decisions are made. May 27 is the date of the proposed final airing of Soccer AM, whose segments including the car park game and fans of the week saw supporters placed at the forefront of their coverage.
A variety of individuals have taken to the Soccer AM hot seat over the years, with Russ Williams and Chamberlain the original hosts, before Lovejoy replaced the former two years in. Lovejoy stuck around until 2007, first succeeded by Andy Goldstein and later Max Rushden. John "Fenners" Fendley and Jimmy Bullard have served as co-hosts in recent years.
Confirming the move to shelve Soccer AM, a Sky Spokesperson told the ECHO: “Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers. We now go into a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with our people. We are unable to provide more detail while these consultations are underway.”
