Soccer AM braces itself for 'Geordie takeover' as singer Andrew Cushin joins Shola Ameobi on show

Soccer AM is getting ready for a 'Geordie takeover' this weekend with Shola Ameobi, Heaton singer Andrew Cushin and Newcastle United fans all set to appear on the show.

Singer-songwriter Cushin will kick off the Sky Sports programme at 10.30am on Saturday with a performance of his debut EP, 'You Don't Belong,' before he joins presenters John 'Fenners' Fendley and Jimmy Bullard on the sofa for a chat about his headline tour in October.

At just 22 years old, Cushin has already been signed by Pete Doherty's Strap Originals Label and worked with Oasis legend Noel Gallagher on one of his tracks. The Newcastle United fan's dream came true this summer when he performed at St James' Park and now he will be able to chart up another memorable performance on Soccer AM this weekend.

Newcastle United cult hero Shola Ameobi is also set to make a star appearance on the show in a move that will delight Cushin and fellow Geordies. Soccer AM also took to Twitter to invite six Newcastle fans to participate in their volley challenge on Saturday's show ahead of the away match with Fulham.

"It’s going to be great," Andrew said.

"I am really looking forward to it. There's going to be Toon fans, Shola Ameobi and me, so it will be a Geordie takeover."
