Newcastle United supporters are pleased to see the club avoided making a move for Jesse Lingard after the former Manchester United midfielder signed a one-year deal with Nottingham Forest. The England international is on a £200,000 a week, according to reports.
Magpies supporters were pleased to see the club avoid entering into a contract of that magnitude at this stage of their rebuild. West Ham United were also among the clubs interested in a move for the 29-year-old but Lingard has decided to link up with Steve Cooper's Forest side.
The Reds have so far ten players this summer, with Lingard the 11th of a busy transfer window. The Magpies will face Cooper's side at St. James' Park on the opening day of the season.
