A high-profile local councillor has quit the SNP just days after it was announced he had been re-selected as one of their local election candidates.
Bannockburn ward councillor Alasdair Macpherson, an SNP councillor for more than 15 years and a member of the party for 44 years, submitted his resignation on Wednesday morning.
While no one reason is believed to have been behind his decision, the controversial move last year by the SNP/Labour administration to introduce collection of grey bins (general waste) and blue bins (plastic, cans and cartons) every four weeks instead of fortnightly is understood to have played a part.
