The UK's first batch of snow this winter is set to sweep across Britain in the coming days - but it's not the Beast from the East that will be responsible for its arrival. Instead, it's the Troll from Trondheim that's set to turn large swatches of the north of the UK white.
British Weather Services' Jim Dale claims he coined the Beast from the East almost 25 years ago. He is now certain that a low pressure system from Norway - rather than Russia - will bring snowfall in just under a week's time.
The BBC is reporting that next week will see temperatures plunge in Nottingham. From Wednesday December 7 it will be -2C at night and not get above 3C during the day with the weekend also cold. There is forecast to be sleet on December 14 and 15 in Nottingham.
