Snoop Dogg is putting it out into the universe that he wants to be in Coronation Street, praising everything from the “cinematography” to the “reality” of the long-running ITV soap.
The 51-year-old rapper – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. – is so desperate to prop up the bar at the Rovers Return, that he insists he will “play whenever they need”.
Speaking to The Sun, he explained: “Coronation Street, I love it. If they call me I’ll do it. I’ll play whenever they need.”
Adding: “I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines and just the reality.”
It’s not actually the first time that Snoop Dogg has professed his love for Corrie and back in 2010, he even suggested a potential storyline for himself.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday, he said: “Deirdre and Ken [Barlow] crack me up, man. They are always playing away from home but never break up. I would like to come in as the new guy on the street to turn Deirdre’s head.
“She is a hot woman for her age. She takes good care of herself. I could be like the new bad boy in town who tries to break up their marriage. That would be a great role to come and play for a few shows.
“Ken is a gangster though, the daddy of the Street. I wouldn’t want to go upsetting him. But Deirdre is one beautiful woman.”
Sadly that ship has sailed as that character was killed off in 2015 following the death of Deirdre actress Anne Kirkbride.
But that’s not to say he couldn’t achieve his dream another way.
Another musician, Bob Dylan, also spoke of his admiration for Coronation Street in December so perhaps they could both appear on the soap in tandem.
A representative for Coronation Street told the Standard: “It is always a thrill for us to hear about famous superfans who want to walk the cobbles. Seeing Snoop Dogg walking into the Rovers with Bob Dylan would certainly give the regulars something to talk about for years to come.”
Snoop Dogg also mentioned he’d be interested in performing at King Charles’ coronation on May 6, telling The Sun: “I’m down to perform at the coronation. Make it happen.”
