Snoop Dogg was surprised with a bagpipe version of his hit song ‘Still D.R.E’ as he touched down in Scotland.
The Hip Hop legend was in Glasgow this week to perform at the city’s Hydro arena on the European leg of his ‘I Wanna Thank Me’ tour.
As he stepped off the plane he was greeted by piper Ross Ainslie playing his 1999 hit.
Showing his appreciation for the unique tribute, a chuffed Snoop danced on the tarmac before giving Ross a big smile and thumbs up.
Posting the clip on Instagram so his 79 million followers could see it, Snoop wrote: “Just touched down in Scotland.”
Fans and famous pals of the US rapper loved the new version of his hit track and were quick to comment underneath.
Rita Ora branded it “iconic”, while new Doctor Who and Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa wrote: “No. Way!”
British Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams commented: “Yes welcome to the UK.”
Snoop’s fans loved it too, with many calling the performance ‘epic’ and others requesting a proper duet with piper Ross.
One fan wrote: “That would be a sick background hook to a new Snoop beat.”
Another commented: “Now that’s how you welcome Snoop Dogg!”
“And that’s why Scotland is the best country in the world,” a third chimed in.
While a fourth made reference to Snoop’s recent takeover of Death Row Records and called for a piper collab, saying: “Bring the bagpiper to Death Row Records.”
Speaking afterwards, piper Ross revealed he only had a nerve-wracking 24 hours to prepare the track.
But he managed to pull it out the bag – literally!
“It was a very cool experience,” he told Glasgow Live. “I only had one day to suss out some music but ‘Still D.R.E is a great pipe tune! Who knew?!”
After a stop off to perform a gig in Amsterdam, Snoop is back in the UK next week as part of his worldwide tour.
The 51-year-old will perform at London’s O2 Arena on March 21 before heading to Leeds and Birmingham at the end of the month.
