Snooker game show Big Break to return to BBC as new hosting duo announced

  • The iconic snooker game show Big Break is set to return to BBC screens, 24 years after its original run concluded.
  • Paddy McGuinness will host the revived series, taking on the role previously held by Jim Davidson, alongside seven-time world snooker champion Stephen Hendry.
  • The original show, which ran from 1991 to 2002, was a Saturday evening staple, attracting nearly 14 million viewers at its peak with Davidson and the late John Virgo.
  • The BBC stated the new format will be “reimagined” for modern audiences, featuring a brand-new look, fast-paced snooker frames, and new camera angles, while retaining the memorable theme tune.
  • Twenty half-hour episodes have been commissioned for BBC Two and iPlayer, with the show's return following the successful revival of other 90s favourites like Gladiators.
