On his way out of the dugout to join his team-mates, Cerny sprayed water from his water bottle at fans seated in the home end.
The act prompted furious reactions from those in the stands with police and stewards having to step in and create a human barrier between supporters and Rangers backroom staff and substitutes.
Sky Sports commentator Ian Crocker said: "There's been a problem down by the Rangers dugout."
