'Smirking' pervert terrified schoolgirls after exposing himself near park

A serial sex offender is back behind bars after exposing himself to two horrified young girls as they strolled through their local park.

Jamie Scott, 35, was described as "smirking and smiling" when he was caught playing with himself in the bushes at Sankey Valley Park, Warrington, at around 3pm on May 17 2022.

The pervert, who has three other convictions for exposure, claimed he was simply urinating when he was hauled before the courts last month - but the jury rejected this, and found him guilty of the crime yet again. He also pleaded guilty to breaching an existing sexual offence order.

At his sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court today, November 18, Mr Frank Dillon, prosecuting, said: "His intention was to shock and his motive was to obtain sexual gratification from his activity."

After exposing himself to the girls and masturbating in front of them, Scott walked off towards nearby Wellfield Street.

The girls reported the incident to the police, and Scott was tracked down with the help of CCTV footage from local businesses.

Judge Gary Woodhall said: "You masturbated in sight of two young teenage girls. This was a sunny afternoon, the park was frequented by children and dog walkers, and you had placed yourself in a very close proximity to a children's play park.

"It was obvious you obtained pleasure from what you were doing.

"(One of the girls) says she is reminded of the incident every time she walks through that park. She is anxious about walking alone in public. She says she no longer feels safe in public on her own.

"(The other girl) has been left with feelings of anger and frustration, and she also no longer feels safe on her own."

Scott was sentenced to 12 months in prison for exposure, and 27 months for breaching his sexual harm prevention order, to run concurrently. He must serve half of this sentence in custody before he can be released on licence.
