A new Stardew Valley update is coming soon, and the farm-sim’s creator Eric Barone said it’ll include a feature that fans have wanted for a while: the iridium scythe. That might sound like nonsense if you haven’t maxed out your tools in Stardew, but for devoted fans of the game, it’s an exciting prospect.
“Iridium Scythe,” Barone posted on Twitter, under his ConcernedApe name.

That was it, but it was enough to set fans buzzing.
“Finally all purple!” one user wrote, referring to the fact that the scythe is the only tool without an iridium option.
“Can I admit this excites me the most because everything can match now?” another said.
So with it we can Harvest ALL the Crops on our farm with one swing!

FINALLY ALL PURPLE

“Just called my parents crying to tell them the news. Tysm,” Twitter user iTyero joked, adding a sobbing emoji at the end.
Iridium is the highest upgrade level for your tools in the indie game. Not only does it increase their effectiveness by a substantial amount, but it also adds a nice little purple hue. The scythe cuts down grass and other crops, as you’d expect, but it has a chance to turn grass into hay for your cattle. That chance increases as you upgrade your scythe, so presumably, you’ll be making quite a bit of hay once the update drops.
Twitter user captainbeebo broke it down a bit more. The gold scythe has a 75 percent chance of turning grass into hay, so the iridium scythe should make it almost a guarantee.
Barone didn’t suggest when this update might happen, though it seems likely the iridium scythe will be part of Stardew Valley 1.6, which currently has no release date.
