  • A woman camping at Park Creek Campground near South Fork was bitten on the arm through her tent by a black bear on Friday.
  • In a second incident in Durango, a bear broke into a home through a window and swiped at a sleeping 17-year-old girl, who avoided severe injury due to heavy blankets.
  • The Durango bear entered another nearby residence on Monday, prompting wildlife officials to track the animal and warn residents to keep windows and doors locked.
  • Colorado Parks and Wildlife reported a record number of bear attacks this year as the animals actively search for food to gain weight ahead of winter.
