Sleep expert swears by duvet hack for couples who overheat at night

As temperatures slowly rise many will be excited to make the most of the better weather, however those who overheat at night might not be so enthusiastic.

Couples in particular can struggle to get proper shut-eye as warm and sometimes humid conditions make the bedroom uncomfortable.

Thankfully, sleep expert James Wilson, on behalf of Casinos en Ligne, has shared a way to keep cool overnight - and it might not be what you'd expect.

According to James you should double up on your duvets to cool down. He explains that this is not for using both, but instead allows each person in the bed to have their own duvet.

He says: "If you have a partner, sleep with two duvets instead of one. Usually in Northern European countries, like Denmark or Norway, couples have two duvets, so each person has their own when sleeping.

"They think we in the UK are bonkers - why would you share a duvet? If you’re a hot sleeper, laying next to someone that makes you hot!"

James goes on to explain that women in particular can overheat at night on the week before and during their period, as your core temperature is a little bit too hot for sleep.

As well as feeling hotter yourself you could also be making your partner feel hotter, creating a situation in which you both cannot sleep.

The expert also says that if one person prefers a type of duvet that the other isn't fond of, they can become a "sleep dictator".

Likewise sleep can be impacted if your partner is something of a duvet hog, leaving you without any cover through the night.

James adds: "That person says this is the duvet we're having and you can end up with 'duvet wars' where changing the duvet or saying, 'I've got the duvet, I'd like more of the duvet', or 'no, we’re having this [type of] duvet', you end up in this sort of battle.

"While separate duvets, they not only give a better temperature for sleep, but also stop you fighting over the duvet too. Win, win."
