Slane Special Edition is perfect tipple to toast St Patrick's Day

Slane Irish Whiskey has announced the launch of its Special Edition brand to celebrate 40 years of the brand's trailblazing music history. The specially-produced beverage has hit the shelves just in time for nationwide St Patrick's Day celebrations on March 17 and packs a special punch for the occasion.

The limited-edition blend was created as a tribute to Lord Henry Conyngham who staged Ireland's biggest rock concert in 1981 welcoming 80,000 music lovers to his front lawn at Slane Castle.

Over 40 years later, Lord Henry’s vision lives on having played host to some of the biggest music acts on the planet and attracting visitors from all over the world. Slane Special Edition ramps up the flavour that comes from Slane Irish Whiskey ’s signature triple casked method by using extra virgin oak casks blended with seasoned barrels and Spanish sherry casks.

The liquid has been bottled at an extra strong 45 per cent ABV, compared to a regular 40 per cent ABV, delivering a rich, complex whiskey with a warm, lingering finish. Presented in its distinctive black glass bottle with embossed crest, with new label artwork is inspired by 1981 and features images by Irish photographers Andy Spearman and Fran Caffrey.

It is boxed in a gift carton with recommended drinks recipes, details of Slane’s music story and exclusive access to a 40th anniversary Spotify playlist, curated by Slane Irish Whiskey co-founder and son of Lord Henry, Alex Conyngham. The soundtrack features music from some of the biggest names to have played at Slane Castle over the years.

It is available nationwide in Amazon, Master of Malt, The Whisky Exchange, The Whisky Shop, Hard to Find Whisky and The Whisky world with a recommended retail price of £36 for a 700ml bottle.

It was created by Brown-Forman working with the Conyngham family, which has three centuries of ties to the village of Slane. For more than 150 years, Brown-Forman has produced alcohol brands including Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester and Tequila Herradura.
