TV crews have been spotted filming in a café and a shop in Bedminster for a Sky Max series. Ashton Gate Mini Market and Hungry Bite Cafe were both closed off from the public on Thursday (February 23) as crews and equipment lined Ashton Road opposite Greville Smyth Park for a day of filming.
The Lazarus Project - formally known as Extinction - is currently shooting the final scenes for the show's second season. Written by Joe Barton (Giri/Haji) and starring Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You), the first series was a hit in June and July 2022 when it was aired on Sky Max and NowTV.
It follows the story of George (Essiedu) who wakes up one morning and discovers the calendar has been rewound six months, finding himself in a world with continuous apocalyptic threat and facing a life-changing dilemma. It's up to him alone to save the world as he keeps waking up on July 1.

In January, the show took over a flat and Vx Cafe on East Street in Bedminster outside on the pavement for a day shoot. Since, crews have also been spotted for night-time filming on Temple Way this month, with filming expected to wrap in Bristol soon.
Series one was filmed in Bristol, Cardiff and Prague in 2021, and the filmmakers have returned to Bristol for the next season after it was quickly commissioned for more episodes last summer. The first season of the Lazarus Project aired for the first time in the US early this year after it was picked up by TNT.
Earlier this week, film crews cordoned off a section of Corn Street in the Old City to film the third season of Alex Rider for Amazon. The news comes as Bristol has spiked in popularity as a location for TV and film crews, with Doctor Who, The Outlaws, Rain Dogs and The Killing Kind all being filmed in the city.
