This series will be your guide to the 2023 draft class. From scouting reports to mock drafts and exploring different scenarios, we will be covering the NFL draft and the future of the Minnesota Vikings from all angles.
The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at wide receiver, running back, cornerback and both interior and edge pass rusher.
The Vikings are slated to have four picks before compensatory selections are awarded and they need to make the most out of them.
Background
Rakim Jarrett

- Weight-200 lbs
- Third-year Junior
- 5-Star recruit per 247 Sports

Strengths
The first thing I wrote down in my notes about Jarrett: he goes zoom zoom. Jarrett is quick and fast in the open field as being a YAC threat is his specialty. He is fast and shifty in the open field with the ability to break a tackle or two.
When running routes, he has quick breaks and has a tendency to find holes in zone and sit. At the top of the stem, he has the ability to use subtle moves to create separation from the defender.
Weaknesses
Jarrett has a tendency to disappear. He doesn’t have a great production profile which is a concern considering it was cut nearly in half from 2021. How much of that was due to quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is up for debate.
Hands are not great for Jarrett. He has 16 drops in 178 targets (9.1%) per PFF and has a tendency to catch with his body and not his hands. Jarrett surprisingly doesn’t separate well for a player with his speed.
Overview
Hands | 6.1/10 |
Release | 7.3/10 |
Route Running | 11.5/15 |
Separation | 12.6/15 |
Contested Catches | 6.5/10 |

Body Control | 7.2/10 |
YAC Ability | 8.2/10 |
Agility | 7.4/10 |
Grade | 73.9/100 Fourth Round |
Jarrett has some untapped potential but there are still too many question marks for me to want to take him before the fourth round. With his speed, he could be the guy who takes the top off of the defense.
