BATHINDA: The rift between the two factions of Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), the grouping which spearheaded the 2020-2021 farm agitation, widened on Wednesday. After the faction led by Balbir Singh Rajewal dissolved a 9-member coordination committee of SKM from which he had already been removed and announced to hold a meeting at Lakhimpur Kheri on March 21, the SKM asked organisations not to attend the meeting.
It warned of disciplinary action against those who attended the meeting and also urged the Rajewal faction to not create a split in the farm movement. During the farm agitation, SKM had formed a nine-member coordination committee to carry out activities. When Rajewal formed Sanyukt Samaj Morcha (SSM) and Haryana-based farm leader Gurnam Singh Charuni formed Sanyukt Sangharsh Party (SSP) to contest Punjab elections, SKM ousted both from the committee, leaving it with seven members.
