Chaos has reigned at Dublin Airport this year with long queues at security and flight cancellations making international travel less and less appealing.

But with some gorgeous spots to travel to in Ireland, why not skip the travel chaos and enjoy a staycation on your doorstep instead?

We've put together a list of the most interesting Airbnb homes you can rent in Ireland from a tropical tree house in west Cork to an entire castle in Galway.

Here are five of the most unique properties that are still available for summer 2022:

1. Entire 200-year-old castle in Galway

The castle is located on the banks of the Dunkellin river overlooking Galway Bay, as well as being 25min drive to Galway city. Guests have use of several reception rooms with open fires and spacious kitchen dining area and fishing on the grounds.

The castle dates back to the 11th century but was rebuilt in the late 18th century.

The home is currently available for €520 a night.

2. Tropical treehouse in west Cork

This treehouse in west Cork set in a "tranquil oasis of trees and ferns" will take you right back to nature.

The wooden cabin for two features a cozy wood-burning stove as well as a balcony, perfect for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening.

It is located in Macroom, County Cork, with Lough Allua less than 5km away, offering fishing and kayaking activates for guests.

The home is currently available for €128 a night.

3. Rustic 19th century stables in Carlow

The couple's retreat is currently available for €138 a night.

5. Houseboat in Kildare
