A skin therapist has said a viral TikTok trend involving micellar water makes her “shiver” due to its inaccuracy.
The viral video trend involves people applying micellar water, a common product used for make-up removal, onto a cotton pad and blowing through it. It creates a foamy substance that online users claim is more gentle on the skin and provides a more effective cleanse.
Sarah McGarry, a beauty therapist with over 20 years’ experience in skincare regimes, says that the widespread claim is misleading for TikTok audiences. She also believes that micellar water in general can create damage to the skin that people are often oblivious to.
