One of the most common complaints about skate is how soulless the word feels and how disconnected the game is from actual skate culture. It’s the lack of skating brands, culture, and even pros. The world feels very corporate and skating is far from that.
Among the many players complaining about this issue, one of them actually got a reply under one of Skate’s Instagram posts. The user, much like many others, complained about these issues, and he got a promising reply.
The dev comment talked about how they are aware of the lack of skate culture representation. They more or less promised that they are going to add everything the community is talking about in future updates. For context, here is the reply posted on r/SkateEA.
What Are The Fans Saying?

The Reddit post quickly blew up within the subreddit. Fans had mixed reaction some hopeful for the future while others wanting more communication from EA. One comment explained both sides.
On one hand, I really do think they are listening and that they have stuff in the pipeline that is already mapped out. On the other hand, I wish they’d be a little more transparent on when those things are coming.
On the other hand, some are a bit more harsh towards dev.
Brother this is a copy paste answer since play test days. Don’t buy into it, this is just a “buy more time” response.
They had ample time, and even with dwindling numbers & player opinion becoming more and more negative they still remain vague.
A small number of players think they should on core gameplay aspect like fixing the progression.
Progress in the core game = grinding the same stupid challenges endlessly to open up lifeless loot boxes…. That is dogshit for “core progression”. Of course, EA uses the classic “it’s Early Access” excuse while they tell you to kick rocks
In short, for some, this is a ray of hope for skate’s future, even if others think it is nothing more than corporate waffle. Of course, not having enough real brands and professional skateboarders isn’t the only thing holding skate. back from being all it can be. But we can only move one step at a time.
