The Scandi set are are braving bitter conditions in their droves, traversing the Danish capital to catch the autumn/winter 2023 collections.
As ever with Copenhagen fashion week, though, some of the best looks are seen on the streets. This year, attendees are offering plenty of winter dressing inspiration. Here’s what’s flooded the pavements so far...
1. Bonnets and balaclavas
Balaclavas and bonnets have been popping up everywhere this winter, and for anyone wondering how best to style them out Copenhagen’s streets have been alive with cosy inspo. Some rocked them with bombers and contrasting colour scarves, while others achieved unexpected elegance in tonal colours and long swishing coats.
2. Denim maxi skirts
At last season’s CPFW you couldn’t move for baggy jeans and cargo pants, and while the loose-fit legwear has gone nowhere for ’23, denim maxi skirts have emerged as a contender. The best came acid-washed and worn super casually, with leather jackets, sneakers and sporty wraparound shades.
3. Floor-skimming oversized coats
Manly shoulders, double breasted and extra points for pinstripes. These wool coats come outrageously oversized and big shouldered.
4. Acne scarves, Bottega bags
There have been two major winners in the accessories department: Acne’s chunky mohair scarf — which went viral on TikTok last year — and Bottega Veneta’s mini Jodie hobo bags, which have cropped up in all colours, textures and sizes.
5. Lots and lots of leather
Whether grungy and faded or polished in popping colours, top-to-toe leather looks dominated the streets of the Danish capital. Distressed, faded finishes felt extra fresh as did leather dresses over leather trousers with leather jackets. More is more!
6. The styling trick: jumpers as scarves
Copenhagen has been the font of many new styling tricks. This week’s standout? Jumpers tied as scarves. Contrast colours were slung over suiting at Aeron while Danish plus-size model Vivian Hoorn was front row at Remain wearing a cream jumper scarf to match her knit dress.
