Gardaí are investigating the circumstances of a horror crash in Monaghan which resulted in six people being taken to hospital.
Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the two-vehicle crash on Monday evening at around 9.30pm. The accident happened at Corraskea in Ballybay, Co Monaghan.
One of the vehicles had come to the attention of gardaí shortly before the crash occurred.
Six people were found to be injured at the scene and were taken to Cavan General Hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. Gardaí have confirmed to the Irish Mirror that none of these injuries are believed to be life-threatening at this time.
They also said a technical examination has since been completed at the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators.
In a statement, they said: "Gardaí are asking for anyone who may witnessed this collision or who may have information to contact Castleblayney Garda Station 042 974 7900, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
"As one of the vehicles involved had an interaction with An Garda Síochána shortly before the collision this matter has been referred to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) under Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act, 2005."
