Around six million people will receive an emergency one-off cost of living £150 disability payment from the Department of Work and Pensions.
The DWP has confirmed that anyone that is eligible for the payment will automatically receive their payment from September 20. Additionally, the DWP has said that “most people will receive their payment by the beginning of October 2022”.
The payment is intended to help disabled people with the cost of living crisis as disability related costs have also increased dramatically in the current economic climate. This scheme does not include the £650 cost of living payment as well as the £400 payment to be deducted over a six-month period from October, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A to D, reported Lancs Live.
