Six foot Boa Constrictor snake on the loose in Leeds as worried owner speaks out

A snake is on the loose in Leeds as its desperate owner has issued an urgent warning to find it before it's too late.

Amy Towers has warned that her beloved Boa Constrictor Imperator has somehow managed to escape her house and is now believed to be on the loose somewhere in Leeds.

The snake, described as '6ft long and very girthy' is 'usually a very moody and reactive snake'.

But owner Amy has tried to reassure people that it won't eat people's pet cats or dogs as 'the biggest thing she will go for is a small to medium guinea pig'.

Amy, from Bramley, said in her urgent appeal on Sunday night: "I can't even believe I'm having to put this up.

"One of my babies has got out of its vivarium somehow.

"It's a BCI (Boa Constrictor Imperator), about 6 feet long and very girthy.

"Usually a very moody and reactive snake but has been in lowered temperatures so will be more than likely very slow and unreactive and possibly just coiled up if outside. If outside will more than likely be in the Broadlane/Broadleas area of Bramley."

Amy told LeedsLive that the snake isn't harmful to humans but she is worried for her pet's wellbeing if she isn't found soon.

She added: "She doesn't eat people, the biggest thing she will go for to eat is a medium to small guinea pig, anything bigger than that she's not going to eat, so people's dogs and cats are not going to get eaten.

"They are not venomous, and they aren't harmful to humans. Of course if you do get bitten get it checked out by a doctor but they aren't harmful to humans.

"If you see it, ring myself straight away. If you do see it, and you don't want to pick it up, put a cardboard box over it and contact me and I'll come pick it up.

"Snakes don't react very well with cold so she's going to be very slow moving, more than likely coiled up somewhere to try to keep warm. I need to get her back under heat as soon as possible."

Update: The snake has now been found after being shared on LeedsLive.

Amy added: "Today was my 29th birthday and let me tell you this was NOT how I planned it would go."
