A man died after reportedly falling from the Goliath hypercoaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday afternoon, leaving close to 20 other riders stranded roughly 200 feet (61 metres) up for about an hour as crews worked to bring them safely down.

Cobb County police confirmed one death, and officials said several other people were hurt, after the incident at about 3:58pm on 12 October at the park in Austell, just outside Atlanta. Local reports identified Goliath as the coaster involved, although police have not officially named the ride.
