Six decades on, trip ends for Mumbai's iconic 'Premier Padmini' taxis

MUMBAI: The iconic black-and-yellow 'Premier Padmini' taxis, affectionately known as 'kaali-peeli,' have bid farewell to the streets of Mumbai.

These taxis, which have been an integral part of the city's identity for decades, have been retired, following the recent phasing out of Mumbai's iconic red double-decker diesel buses operated by the BEST (Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport) undertaking.
