Sister of "raped and murdered" woman threatened to shoot every cop in Paisley when officers tried to help her

An out-of-control woman who claimed her sister was raped and murdered threatened to “shoot every cop in Paisley” when officers tried to help her.

Paramedics and cops rushed to Rachel O’Neil’s flat amid reports a woman had suffered a heart attack, on October 9 last year.

But when they arrived in Ladyburn Street in the town, O’Neil, 24, said she’d throw acid in their faces and would kill them so she could “be done with murder”.

She later told officers: “My sister was raped and murdered that’s why I was abusive.”

At Paisley Sheriff Court, defence agent Charlie McCusker revealed O’Neil had a “fairly traumatic childhood” and then spiralled out of control following the killing of her sibling in 2021.

Procurator fiscal depute Amber Feeney told the court: “At 1.15am, paramedics were called to Ladyburn Street in relation to a possible cardiac arrest.

“Paramedics were met by the accused who said she was safe and well but she was acting aggressive and in an erratic manner.

“It was noted O’Neil was clearly under the influence of drink, and, or drugs and she was trying to hurt herself.

“Police attended and paramedics advised O’Neil to go to the hospital for an assessment, but she refused.

“The accused started shouting ‘I’m gonna get a gun and shoot every cop in Paisley, I’m gonna throw acid on your face’.”

At hospital, O’Neil pretended she was pregnant before lashing out again.

Ms Feeney added: “At hospital, the accused informed staff and police she was four months pregnant and so police attempted to place her on her side.

“During the struggle, the accused kicked out with her feet and made comments including, ‘I’m gonna kill every single one of you, you’re a f*****g paedo; I’m gonna kill you all then myself so I can get done with murder; if I lose this f*****g baby it’s all your fault.’

“In reply to charge one, she replied, ‘my sister was raped and murdered that’s why I was abusive.’”

Mr McCusker explained to the court O’Neil wasn’t pregnant.

He added: “O’Neil and a friend were as drunk as each other at this time and she was concerned for her friend.

“When police attended, her friend had razor blades in the bathroom and had cuts, and that’s when she started to shout.

“She now recognises she needs help.”

Sheriff Lindsay Kooner deferred sentence for a community payback order report and for O’Neil to be of good behaviour.

O’Neil who had appeared at court from custody was released and will return to court in three months for a review.
