'Sister gave me a list of 'reserved' baby names at my gender reveal - she's not pregnant'

A mum-to-be says she couldn't believe it when her sister-in-law presented her with a list of "reserved" baby names at her own gender reveal party, ordering her not to use any of them as she wanted them for her own "future children".

Her single sister-in-law, who is her husband's twin sister, isn't currently dating anyone and has made a commitment to remain a virgin until her wedding day. Crucially, she's also not pregnant.

According to this expectant mother, the list itself was quite "lengthy", and contained a number of family names of special significance she had indeed been considering for her unborn baby daughter.

Taking to Reddit, the pregnant woman wrote: "[I've] just had my gender reveal - we are so excited that it's a girl! Immediately afterward, my husband's twin sister - [who is a] committed virgin until marriage and not dating/barely ever dated, sat me down to let me know what girl names she has 'reserved' for her future children, emphasising I can't use any one of them.

"It was quite a lengthy list and mostly family names (which I was also hoping to use). I told her she was out of line given that I am the pregnant one with the impending girl and should be able to choose the name freely."

One fellow Reddit user advised: "If she had one name that she's always wanted to name her baby and nicely asked you to not pick that one, it'd be one thing. But she's literally trying to give you a list of 'reserved' names? Ridiculous."

Another agreed: "I'd be willing to give sister-in-law one name if she has a very specific reason ('This aunt saved me from drowning as a child, and I really want to honour her by naming a daughter after her'), but a whole list? Not happening."
