Sir Rod Stewart has revealed he'll be supporting Brazil over England in this year's World Cup.
The star got up early this morning to appear on Magic Radio with Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott to talk about life and one of his favourite subjects, football.
It's no secret that the 77-year-old is a huge Celtic fan, always supports his roots and cheers on Scotland when they compete in international competitions.
So when the subject of the World Cup came up, presenter Harriet went on to ask the Maggie May singer if he will be supporting England since Scotland didn't qualify for the competition. He said: "My dad was from Edinburgh so I have Scottish blood in me and we don't like them doing well. But saying that all my mates support England! But I'll be supporting Brazil!"
Rod has often spoken about falling in love with football because of his dad. He even dedicated a song to him on his new album, Touchline.
Speaking previously about the tribute to his father, he said: “If you know anything about me you know that our dad’s love of football has most definitely left its impact on me and my brothers and I’m delighted that it’s now such an important part of my children’s lives as well.
He added: "The song Touchline was my tribute to him and I’m so happy and moved that the new video takes that to the ultimate level."
The track and video are a heartfelt dedication to his Edinburgh-born father Robert, with Rod describing him as “a Scotsman and plumber by trade” in the lyrics.
In Touchline, Rod sings: “Now it's my time on the side in the rain and watch my boys play the beautiful game. And sometimes, sometimes I look up to the clouds and I say ‘Dad I hope you're looking down, cause if it wasn't for you, all this might not have been.’”
During his appearance on the radio show. Ronan and Harriet also asked Rod how he keeps his blonde looks looking glorious and the rocker revealed the tip he used before he discovered products. He said: "I now use wax, mousse and lacquer, but before when I was younger I used to use warm water and sugar and it stood up like Dusty Springfield!"
Since Rod is heading out on his UK tour just shortly, Ronan went on to ask if he has any riders bring him anything specific to have back stage. Rod went on to reveal that he just has one request and it's booze. He said: "No nothing really, just a few bottles of wine, my band can drink!" Harriet replied: "Red, white or rose?"
He laughed: "All of them!"
