Jannik Sinner has shrugged off any doubts about his fitness by setting up a potentially classic semi-final at Wimbledon against seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.
World No.1 Sinner, who had been fortunate to land a great escape against the luckless injury-stricken retiree Grigor Dimitrov in the previous round, showed no ill-effects from his own elbow injury suffered in that match as he downed American 10th seed Ben Shelton 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 6-4 in the quarters.
Then the amazing, ageless Djokovic came from a set down to outplay exciting Italian young gun, 22nd seed Flavio Cobolli 6-7 (6-8) 6-2 7-5 6-4 later on Centre Court on Wednesday to set up a 10th career clash with Sinner.
