Special police teams have been constituted to investigate the conspiracy angle behind the sinking of a few piers of the Lakshmi (Medigadda) barrage of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) as suspected by Irrigation department officials.
Acting on a complaint filed by the Assistant Engineer concerned of the department, Mahadevpur police registered an FIR under Sections 427 of the IPC and Section 3PDPP (Prevention of Damage to Public Property) Act on October 23.
A delegation of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has inspected the Medigadda barrage. Police will come to a conclusion after expert committee findings, officials said.
The bridge of Medigadda barrage has been temporarily closed due to safety reasons as per requisition given by the Irrigation department.
