Single-vehicle crash on rural road claims driver's life

A man has died in a single-vehicle crash northwest of Goulburn.

Emergency services were called to Gurrundah Road, Biala, about 45km northwest of Goulburn at 1.45am on Friday, July 31.

Hume Police District inspector, Dave Cowell, said a Toyota Hilux had failed to negotiate a right-hand bend, left the road and rolled, before crashing into a tree. The collision occurred about 4km from the intersection with Grabben Gullen Road, and 20km north of Gunning.

The 35-year-old male driver died at the scene.

Ambulance, Police Rescue, general duties officers and Southern Tablelands RFS responded.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Inspector Cowell said family were still being notified of the man's death and couldn't say at this stage where he was from.

The fatality comes two weeks after a road train driver's death on the Hume Highway at Breadalbane. The man died after colliding into a stationary B-double that had broken down at 4am on July 17. The collision sparked a major fire in which both trucks were destroyed.
